1952 Custom Hand Made Putter
Vintage Babe Zaharias 1952 Custom Hand Made Putter This rare piece of Florida Golf History is a fine example of how gentlemen golfers think. Mr. Lou Broward, an amateur from Jacksonville, Fla., was a novice club maker and a pretty fair player. (He won the first Florida Open in 1942 as a non-professional.) In the 1952 FLORIDA OPEN held at Babe & George's course in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Broward had designed a putter head in the shape of a open - air "D". He nicknamed the putter "Drop-Em"!. After Babe got a look of the new creation she saw the " D " as a sign for Didrikson. That is all it took as she encouraged Lou to make one for her just like his own weapon. Lou like so many others was under Babe's unique charm, Texas drawl and being just one of the good ole boys. You will also notice that he gave Babe Top Billing by making her initials & new home town of Tampa slightly larger than his own town of Jacksonville.
