Availability: 66 in stock
  • Conflict: Vietnam (1961-75)
  • Original/Reproduction: Original
  • Condition: There are 2 missing "fins" just forward of the rear rotor on the sides (See photos), the "driver side" "wing" that holds the weapons is loose but not falling or coming off, it pivots in a way it wasn't meant to (See photo), it appears that repairs have been done to this, some using nice clear glue and some using a white glue, can probably be repaired/restored. I tried to show damage that I noted, may be other pieces missing or broken none was obvious to me other than the missing "fins" on the back and the repairs I photographed. Please LOOK CLOSELY AT PHOTOS which speak louder and more specific than anything I can type.

    Description

There are 2 missing "fins" just forward of the rear rotor on the sides (See photos), the "driver side" "wing" that holds the weapons is loose but not falling or coming off, it pivots in a way it wasn't meant to (See photo), it appears that repairs have been done to this, some using nice clear glue and some using a white glue, can probably be repaired/restored.  I tried to show damage that I noted, may be other pieces missing or broken none was obvious to me other than the missing "fins" on the back and the repairs I photographed.  Please LOOK CLOSELY AT PHOTOS which speak louder and more specific than anything I can type.
Tips a little bit to the right if looking at it from the front, not sure if that is on purpose or if the "legs" were reglued incorrectly.  Hard to say.
    Approx.
20" x 18" not including the top blade which is approx. 18" wide.  Approx. 8" tall.
Both rotors spin freely.  Front gun turret rotates.
Was told by person I bought this from that this was made in vietnam out of a piece of mahogany furniture in base.  Unable to verify this, he may have been lying.  No date or signature that I could find.
This does match up very nicely to photos of Bell AH1 Cobras that were used in the Vietnam war.  There are options but the features of this match up nicely to multiple photos of certain Vietnam era configurations that I was able to easily find.
The single blade top rotor, the rear rotor placement side, the windows on the cabin, the round thing that sticks out from back of the cabin, the weapons systems, the front gun, the "legs" and the side "jets" or exhaust or whatever that is on the sides behind the cockpit all these features match up real nicely with Vietnam era Cobra helicopters.  I can't prove (how could I?) this is trench art from Vietnam, but it has all the features and matches the cobras from that era/war.
