Unusual Antique Central Scientific Co. Resistance Box ? Great Steampunk Look !!

Description

We picked up this unusual device from a local estate sale not long ago.  The owner was an elderly man who was once a teacher.  He told us that he used this in his classroom many, many years ago, and that it was an early resistance box.  So I'm taking him for his word on it and listing it as such.  It does have a pretty neat look to it and measures 8" x 5 3/4" x 4 3/8".  The wood box appears to be made out of mahogany to me.  Other than that, I can't tell you much about it.
