the previous owner.

Syd Hoff was a Jewish- American cartoonist and children's book author, best known for his classic
early reader "Danny and the Dinosaur" (1958). His cartoons have appeared in a variety of
publications including "The New Yorker" and "Esquire". He drew two long-running comic strips:
"Tuffy" (1939-1949) and "Laugh It Off" (1958-1978). One of his recurring characters is a walrus-mustached
man. Hoff also drew political cartoons; was questioned by the FBI in 1952, but never formally charged,
nor blacklisted.
He used the pseudonym, A Redfield , for his radical works published in the
"Daily Worker," and "New Masses., " as well as for the
children's book "Mr. His" 1939.
