  • Condition: Studebaker horse-pulled 2-seat (four passenger) four-wheel carriage with hood & poles. 4 solid brass open-face bells attached to harness shaft bottom. Older but complete restoration. Studebaker color options were “Brewster Green” & “Maroon”; the carriage has a black exterior with maroon undercarriage, maroon tuft + button upholstery, maroon horse poles. The carriage + poles marked PatD 1887. Vertical holder houses 1889 horse “whip” that is 59” long. Oil carriage lamp. Storage beneath seats. Folding, collapsible hood has oval “porthole” window. Black faux leather. 2 metal steps on each side. Pattern of ovals and horizontal lines on axils and poles. Wheels have 16 spokes and steel tires. Classic lines. Founded in 1852 incorporated in 1868 as the Studebaker Brothers CO was founded in 1852. Carriage=84.50” (Highest point from top of carriage cover to floor) x 67”W x 121” (without poles).     The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents an
    antique Studebaker horse-pulled 2-seat (four passenger) four-wheel carriage with hood + matching horse poles
    . Four solid brass open-face bells are attached to the bottom of the harness shafts. An older but complete restoration. Studebaker color options were “Brewster Green” and “Maroon”; the carriage has a black exterior with maroon undercarriage and maroon tuft + button upholstery. The carriage has the patent date, 1887, and on both carriage and poles. Poles have old (original?) leather straps. Vertical holder on the front right side houses the original 1887 horse “whip” that is 59” long. Brass oil carriage lamp present. Storage beneath both seats for extra goods and luggage. Folding, collapsible hood. Oval “porthole” window. Black faux leather. 2 metal steps on each side. Pattern of ovals and horizontal lines on axils and on horse poles. Wheels have 16 spokes and steel tires. Classic lines. Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868 as the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the firm was first located in South Bend, Indiana. An historic gem, for riding or for display.
