    Description

    Up for auction is a lovely set of antique balance scales dating from the 19th century. They are Chinese and are contained within their original fitted case. The beam is graduated with weight marks and they come with a brass pan and weight, both suspended by thread. This actually came from a church sale where they thought it was a raddle….I’m not joking, I didn’t find out what it was till I loosened up the wooden strap keeping it shut.
    The whole set is in good original condition and display very nicely. It measures 14 long and 4 at its widest. The case has a few small knocks and marks as to be expected and the scales have tarnished over time. T
