Mineralogy: Unusual Polarizing Tongs
Pair of polarizing tongs some 6" long, unusual in that the polarizer is simply a small reflective glass plate (reflected light is plane polarized). I am not sure of the nature of the analyzer. This would normally be a polished plate of tourmaline but here it is a small plate of a purple colour. Whatever it is it works quite well and produces a good extinction.
