A different style blow torch. This one is rectangular in shape instead of the usual round one. The top, bottom, feet and pump are brass castings.
The pump still builds pressure but should be cleaned if it is to be used. It is very gummed up with old fuel and oil.
On this torch, the pump doubles and the handle
The control valve turns freely but needs new packing in the gland as the old packing no longer seals the stem well.
The torch had two small brass flip out feet to help prevent the torch from tipping over if it is set on a flat surface because it is so narrow and a little top heavy.
There appears to have been some work done to the bottom solder seam as it looks like seam around the bottom was re soldered and they did not really do a neat job! An easy job to clean up and re solder if someone wants.
If you have never used on of these torches, they are exciting. You fill the tank with white gas, put the cap on and pump the tank up using the hand pump. Then you open the valve just a little and let the liquid gas dribble into the small pan below the burner head. One the pan is about 2/3 full, shut the valve off. Make sure you have not spilled any fuel on the torch body!
Now the fun part, you light the fuel in the pan and let it burn. After the pan is almost empty of fuel slowly open the valve and make sure the torch is not pointing to anything flammable. It will sputter and spurt and sent out flaming droplets of fuel and then start to hiss. Once the head is hot enough it will vaporize the fuel and you have a nice hot flame.
Do not pick up the torch until all the fuel in the pan is consumed or you will be dropping flaming fuel!
