We are selling an ANTIQUE H.B. SIGNED (1) BRASS EMBOSSED HORSE SLEIGH BELL with a set of 9 other bells for a total of 10 bells. Only the large center bell is marked H.B. The other bells have various sizes numbered of 7 (there are 5 bells marked 7); 8 (there are 2 bells marked 8); 11 (there are 2 bells marked 11); and the large center bell marked HB. HB stands for Hubbard Barton (1797-1860); one son of William Barton; who took over the bell business started by his father in East Hampton. The H.B. Bell is rather large measuring 4”L by 4” D. Three of the bells show rubbing on the top of the bell which indicates they were actually used. All come with the original bolt and an 8 hourglass pin which provides an indication of their age. While the strap is broken in 2 places, it can easily be replaced with a new leather strap. The original strap is 51” long.
