Antique Sikes Hydrometer complete set, W.R. Loftus

Beautiful, complete antique Sikes Hydrometer set, manufactured by W.R. Loftus of London early 1900's.
The case includes a hydrometer
spherical ball with engraved scale
used to determine the strength, proof, and percentage of alcoholic in spirits based on its buoyancy.  There are 9 round weights labeled 10-90 (plus a rectangular calibration cap)
The hydrometer is part of a kit that also includes a working mercury-based thermometer made of glass with an ivory backing marked 20 to 120.  Unique to this set, it includes "the Proof Rule" and "the Comparative Rule" (side rule conversion devices) in excellent working condition.  A red-satin-lined mahogany case with red velveteen cushions protects the instrument parts.
