    Description

    NGC authenticated and graded VG 8. Pleasing light
    brown
    with wood grain pattern steel and tan streaks. There are minor scattered marks on either side, nothing major or distracting, consistent with the grade. Nice smooth surfaces,
    struck
    slightly off center towards 8 o'clock on the obverse though dentils are still visible
    around
    the full
    obverse and the upper reverse. THe usual cud below the horse's mouth is present, there are no known examples of this variety without that cud indicating the obverse die started failing almost immediately. Die sinking and bulging evident on the reverse. A choice circulated example of this scarce variety, one of only two that has the X reverse. Listed on Page 74 of the 2021 Guide Book.
